Albatross Update: March 2018
13 Albatross Chicks are currently doing well, unfortunately one died recently due to unknown reason. We still have 4 Albatross Chicks nesting on view of the Observatory that we can see on our tours.
14 chicks were sexed, there are 9 Females and 4 male and 1 unknown. Chicks are currently weighing between 3 – 5 kgs.
Pest Count:
- Cats x 2
- Rats x 4
- Rabbits x 9
- Mice x 4
- Stoats x 10
- Ferret x 1
Here’s an overview of the 2018 breeding season:
- 33 eggs laid
- 16 chicks hatched
- 13 chicks remaining
- The chicks are now 40 to 51 days old and all have spent time alone.
