COVID 19 Update

COVID-19 Update: 1 Dec 2021

Visitors to the Royal Albatross Centre (tours, giftshop, café and gallery) will be required to present their COVID-19 Vaccination Pass for entry. When visiting the Royal Albatross Centre you will be welcomed by a staff member at the doors who will be required to check your pass is valid. A second form of ID (photo ID – e.g. drivers license, passport etc.) may also be requested for verification.

The requirement will be effective from 11:59pm, December 2nd 2021, when New Zealand implements the COVID-19 Protection Framework. Children under 12-years and 3-months will not be required to present a COVID Vaccination Pass.

Please note, all visitors must continue to use the Covid tracking app or registration form and wear a mask inside the Royal Albatross Centre and our facilities while Dunedin is at Orange or Red alert status.

Our number one priority is the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and visitors. The Royal Albatross Centre sets high standards based on the latest research and the protection of native species and we reflect these standards in the protection of our people.

Please see https://covid19.govt.nz/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-vaccination-certificates/my-vaccine-pass/ for more information on obtaining a My Vaccine Pass, and how the process works.

Will we take visitors with just one jab?

Entry to our visitor centre will be dependent on possession of a COVID Vaccination Pass. Currently you require two vaccinations or an exemption to get this Pass. For more information on COVID Vaccination Passes, please visit https://covid19.govt.nz/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-vaccination-certificates/my-vaccine-pass/.

Will you be storing any private information?

We will not be storing any information when scanning your Covid Vaccination Pass. We are however required to continue to retain the physical records from the sign-in form when entering the building (if you choose to use this instead of the tracking app) to assist in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that your details (name, contact number and time and date of your visit) will be given to public health officials in the event that it is required for contact tracing. We will not use it for any other purpose and will destroy it after 60 days. It will be kept securely here at the Royal Albatross Centre.

Cancellation policy?

If you booked a tour with us prior to the 3rd December 2021 and you are unable to visit us due to this policy, please contact us and we will provide a full refund on pre-paid tours.
