The Education programmes at the Royal Albatross Centre are designed to inspire the next generation to protect New Zealand’s wildlife, culture and history.
Our Primary School education programmes cover a range of topics, all of which are central to us at Taiaroa Head / Pukekura, including; Plastic Pollution, Nature of Science, Identity and Heritage, Birds, Maori History, Conservation and Science.
PRIMARY EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
TOROA AT TAIAROA
From fortification to conservation, students will look at how the use of Taiaroa Head has changed over time.
Topic: Identity & Heritage & History
Programme Duration: 2 hours / Progamme Cost: $4/person

SAVE OUR SEABIRDS
Royal Albatross are only one of the attractions of Taiaroa Head. Breeding colonies of Shags, Royal Spoonbills, Little Blue Penguins and Fur Seals are just a few of the highlights. Learn about the meaning and application of conservation status. Discuss current environmental issues impacting the seabirds and potential solutions to these problems.

LITTER FREE OCEANS
Investigate the impact of marine debris on the local wildlife and investigate the source of the problem as part of the programme.
